Biostock: Strategy Platform + Expanded Coverage

and now for something completely different

Since I started working on Biostock, the main goal has been to expose biotech stock data in a clean, easy-to-understand way, freely accessible to anyone interested in the space.

A large part of that effort has been building a dataset around stocks in relatively more stable segments of biotech - mainly components of XBI and IBB. This data now spans roughly the past five years and continues to grow. While it doesn’t perfectly account for all historical index composition changes, it has been a solid foundation to build on.

On top of this dataset, I developed an internal infrastructure for creating and testing trading strategies across different time periods and market regimes in biotech.

This is what powers Signal Picks - a publicly available strategy focused on XBI and IBB, with transparent backtesting and live performance that has so far outperformed both the biotech ETFs and SPY.

Biostock remains free for exploring all indexed data and existing coverage.

Going forward, for tickers that aren’t already in the system, basic data coverage will continue to be available, however, AI-powered analysis - including the Financial Health Score, SEC-extracted catalysts, and drug pipeline data - is available on-demand for supporters. Once processed, that ticker and its updates become available to everyone.

Alongside this, I’ve decided to open up the underlying strategy platform.

While this was not initially intended to be public, it is now available to founding members - a higher support tier for those who want deeper access and are helping fund further development at a larger scale.

The general workflow, available under the Strategy tab, is:

• Adjust parameters in the Optimize tab based on your preferences and run optimization to identify strong candidates

• Select a preset and move to the Backtest tab to evaluate performance across different periods

• Save the presets you’re satisfied with

• Activate them in the Picks tab to generate daily trade candidates at market open

• Run multiple presets simultaneously depending on the strategies you want to deploy

This is just one layer of what’s possible, and I’ll continue expanding both the data coverage and the tooling over time.
